A Basic Installation

We often get asked for a full list of the parts needed when installing a controller. Although that’s a bit of a “how long is a piece of string” question, here is our view of the component parts of a basic installation.

This table lists the parts and some notes on their selection

Part Selection notes
Controller Choose according to motor stall current
Ignition switch Key, toggle, rocker, or none
Reverse switch Toggle or rocker
Throttle pot Rotary or plunger, potentiometer or hall type
Battery isolator Match to motor stall current
Fuse / breaker Match to power cable rating
Fuse holder Match to fuse
Power cable Match to motors nominal maximum current
Control cable Choose to suit control layout
Noise suppression 2 ferrite rings and 1 capacitor per motor
Battery Choose capacity according to run time required
Connectors Choose according to controller and cable
