Motors in Parallel

A common question is how to wire up multiple motors. In general our preference is to connect the motors in parallel as shown in this diagram.

This diagram assumes that both motors are rated for the full battery voltage [e.g. 24V motors and a 24V battery]. It is possible to use 12V motors with a 24V battery using this wiring, but the gain of the controller should be reduced so that the controller only puts out a maximum of 12V. Putting a higher voltage into a motor will increase the power, but will also increase the heat generated in the motor. It’s certainly possible, but just tread carefully.
