DCC / Airwire Interface

We’ve been asked by a number of customers if our controllers can be made to work with a DCC or  Airwire system. This little circuit ought to do the trick….

With pins 2 and 3 of Lk1 linked the circuit will operate the DNO or Pro-120/150 series, for the Pro-160 / 360 it may be necessary to fit a 1uF capacitor across the 4k7 resistor. With the link absent the circuit will drive the 4QD series.

The gain control of the controller will probably require adjusting appropriately.

This arrangement should not be used to control any vehicle carrying passengers.

We’ll get a circuit board made up for it in due course.

Our friends at Fosworks have recently released this DCC receiver that can plug directly into the RC port of our Pro-100 / 160 / 360 series controllers, this allows DCC sound and 4QD motor control.
