Speed Sensor Ratio

The Pro-100 / 160 / 360 series controllers have an optional speed sensor which can be used to measure, display, and control the RPM of the motor.

Instructions for how to install and connect the sensor are given in the sensor manual.

Once the sensor has been made operational, it is possible to convert the RPM measurement into a speed indication in either kph or mph.

To do this, you need to enter a value into the “gear ratio” setting in the controller menu.

The value of this ratio [Gr] can be calculated using the following formula:

For kph use

Gr = (Rd * 60) / (π * D)

Where

  • Rd = overall reduction ratio from the motor shaft to the rolling wheel.
  • D = rolling wheel diameter in m.

The display can be configured to show the speed via the General Settings / Display section of the menu.
