Relays

We have contact with a far eastern manufacturer of high quality relays. We can source 12v relays in 100 off quantity at a good price. Other voltages are available, in higher quantities. Please enquire - (contact button at top). The following relays are currently available ex-stock in small quantities.

DIY repairs

Most circuit boards are plated through. Replacement of large components such as relays on such boards requires a lot of heat and skill and is not for the inexperienced: there is a good chance of trashing the board! Damage to the circuit board itself is usually fatal and cannot be repaired.

Pro-120 and Pro-150 are all plated through.
VTX were not originally plated, but recent ones are . Look at the inside ot a large hole on the board. If this is silvered - the board is plated through. If it is plain fibreglass (as the outside edge of the board) it is not plated through. Even with unplated board, great care is required to properly remove solder from the contacts to remove the relay without damage.

PCB 30/40 amp relay.

This is a circuit-board mounting 30/40 amp relay that we use in our Pro-120 and NCC-60 and NCC-70 controllers. They were made by Taiko (Siemens/Potter and Brumfield). They are available in 12v and 24v versions.

The relay used in the VTX is physically slightly larger than these, so they may only be used in the VTX.
Note that the VTX relay appears to be slightly better as it is rated 40/60 amps. However experience shows that the apparently lower rated one better survives short-term overload.

PCB 60/80 amp relay.

This is the relay we used on our Pro-150. However we do not advocate DIY replacement of Pro-150 relays: the board is double-sided thick copper and all 11 pins of the relay must be unsoldered simultaneously. Relay coil is 12v.
